EGYPTIAN OVAL SHEET GOLD HOLLOW-BACKED ATTACHMENT

With chased and repoussé decoration of a head of Bes in a rectangular recess, pierced around the border for attachment; probably an element from a necklace.
Bes - Protector of women and children, he also dispelled bad dreams.
He was often depicted with a leonine aspect or beating a drum to frighten away evil spirits.
