ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF A BEARDED MALE

Probably a representation of the Olympian Zeus, with a drooped moustache and full beard, his hair parted centrally, drawn to a chignon behind and bound with a fillet. A hole in the front of the fillet probably anchored a gold diadem. Based upon an original of the 5th century BC.
