ROMAN MARBLE SKYPHOID KRATER WITH A RELIEF OF A DIONYSIAC REVEL

Of dancng nude satyrs and maenads with tympanon, flutes, a panther, a cista mystica, and theater masks -- all related to the cult of Dionysos.
Originally the body of a krater that was made from separately carved sections that fitted together to form the vase.

Ex old English collection acquired in the 1940s.
