VILLANOVAN BRONZE SCABBARD WITH FRAGMENTARY SWORD

The scabbard decorated with fine merging ribs, tapered to composite finial of a broad ring and ridged bands, the edges chased with chevrons and surmounted by a large lentoid disc. Remains of interior wooden scabbard and corroded iron blade within.
Repaired. Acquired in 1992, Freiburg.
