Roman marble herm bust of a Celtic queen or goddess Roman marble herm bust of a Celtic queen or goddess
ROMAN MARBLE HERM BUST OF A CELTIC QUEEN OR GODDESS

With long curling hair, centrally-parted and flowing to the shoulders, wearing a diadem, the brow furrowed above deep-set eyes, the ears drilled for earrings, a torc around the neck, the back flat.
Depictions of the gods and goddesses of Celtic mythology frequently show them wearing torcs. An example of a torc owned by a woman is the gold torc from the La Tene period chariot burial of a princess, found in Waldalgesheim, Germany, and another found in a woman's grave at Reinheim. The torc was a sign of nobility and high social status.
