ROMAN BRONZE PEDIMENT FROM A LARARIUM

Roman bronze pediment from a lararium. A pyramidal crown above a dentil cornice. Atop the apex is a figure of a draped youth wearing a fillet, above each corner, an eagle. Right eagle restored.

The lares were the personification of the spirit of the household and images of the master and mistress of the house would be displayed beneath this pediment for veneration.
