ROMAN BRONZE APHRODITE The goddess standing with her weight on her right leg, her left advanced, her foot abutting a hare lying on its back, resting her elbow on a dolphin atop a draped pilaster, her right arm bent acutely with her hand supporting a dove perched on her shoulders, wearing a high-belted tunic exposing her left breast, and a mantle across her waist, her head turned to her left, a crescentic diadem in her center-parted hair, arranged in a chignon with long tendrils falling forward onto her shoulders, her eyes inlaid in white stone or glass, the pupils recessed, two tenons below for insertion.
