Paestan red-figure skyphos from the Asteas/Python workshop PAESTAN RED-FIGURE SKYPHOS FROM THE ASTEAS/PYTHON WORKSHOP

There are bands of egg-pattern on the rim between the handles. Below each handle is a large palmette. Scrolling tendrils flank both scenes.

Side A: A female is seated to the left holding a phiale in her right hand. She wears a chiton, himation, kekryphalos, bracelets, and necklace. In the field are filling ornaments: a phiale and rosettes.

Side B: Seated nude male holding a bird.

Ex German collection; John Kluge collection, Charlottesville, Virginia, acquired from Royal-Athena in 1988; Patricia Kluge collection, Charlottesville, Virginia, 1990-2010.
