HELLENISTIC MARBLE STATUE OF SEATED CYBELE The Great Mother goddess enthroned, wearing a himation and polos, holding a tympanon and patera, a small lion resting on her lap. Originally a Phrygian goddess, she is the deification of the Earth Mother, goddess of fertile earth, caverns and mountains, walls and fortresses, nature and wild animals. Cf. G.
