ETRUSCAN BRONZE HELLE RIDING THE RAM WITH THE GOLDEN FLEECE

Once a princess, daughter of King Athamas of Boeotia, she was the goddess of the Hellespont Sea. She, partially draped, reclines upon the ram's back as it kneels; her left arm around his neck. Probably a cista finial. A rare type.
